Let me take a stab at this, Larry. I don't believe you have any problems with points 1 and 2 above, pretty standard modem control. The problem comes when you want to transfer to the handset - most modems implement the 'Phone' jack as an OR. Either the modem has the line or the phone, with the modem usually having priority. With the speakerphone models, this is generally handled by external or internal connections to your sound card, so you have your PC as the 'phone'. I also do not know of any modem that will generate a ring signal to a standard phone set or hand off like you suggest. You could try the app using a headset with boom mike into a SVD type modem, but I think the controls would be very specific to the modem manufacturer and type/model. I experimented some time ago with a Eiger Labs DSVD that had this capability, but their firmware was so full of holes that I finally gave it up in disgust.
