Yes you can. IBM sells a connectivity kit (I forget the name) that allows for defining DB2/400 as an ODBC compliant database. Once you have the hard connection and set up the ODBC connectivity, then you have your choice of SQL Passthrough or remote views. AccountMate, a popular accounting package, uses the AS/400 as one of it's server database.
