The property management company investigated Skyline years ago. Even before they and the company I worked for then developed the DataFlex custom system. Even now they cannot find a single system that does everything that the DataFlex system does. (Mainly lack of an integrated Work Order system.) I wasn't involved in this latest search but I know it was quite thorough.
The DataFlex system has been quite stable over the years. Index files would typically go for years without any corruption. It's been less stable lately because they switched out their Novell server for an NT server. It's a problem with "opportunistic locking."
DataFlex went O-O some years before FoxPro did. I never learned it because I had decided to go with FoxPro. I wanted to be in the mainstream of software development! <g>
Any hard references on DOS going away?
