I fixed the problem myself. It turned out to be related to the path of the file. I used a ODBC datasource wich had the path property set to a different path than where the file was. The path to the file was included in the select statement and that worked fine (hence the browsing) but the path statement was somehow not included in the tables property of the view. When hacking the DBC I found no table reference at all. Somehow it can't handle files not in the default datasource path.
