I've seen this in situations where the indexes of an NTFS volume became corrupted. If you can open the table safely under VFP, open it, copy to another table and close both and shut down VFP. Then run CHKDSK /F against the NT volume holding the file (this likely will be deferred to run after the system is shut down and restarted) to force NT to validate and repair the NT disk volume involved.
