Just as a side note, the GUID is what helped to catch the person who wrote that e-mail macro virus that killed a bunch of companies servers. Part of the GUID is made up of the MAC address of your network card (assuming you have one). This info is saved in Office docs and helped to link the virus writer to the virus.
