To me, VFP is the only logical choice to build business applications. It's performance is good, data access is better than in every other tool, the object model is outstanding.
Of course, there has been lots of controversy about VFP, but that seems to be because it has been around for a while. I can't even count the number of times people asked me whether VFP would die or not. I think this is all a bunch of BS. VFP is well and alive, and it seems to do much better than languages such as Java that caused a big hype recently. Also, it seems that there are more open VFP jobs than anything else.
