Thanks for the reply. You're right of course, but after some experimenting I discovered the task bar appears when, in run time, I moved the mouse to the top of the form and lowered the height slightly. I then went back to the development environment and changed the top value to 1. By making the form maximized the default for the top had become -2. I still don't understand why that should be the default, but the height adjustment solution seems to work.
