Wow! You ask a question that has a very long answer.

1. Upgrade your UT membership to Premier so you can do searches for Oracle topics. There are numerous troubleshooting threads on this topic. This will well worth the cost.

2. See the Knowledge Base (purple book), Articles, Client/Server topic and print the article there.

3. See contact information at Pinnacle Publishing to see if you can get the FoxTalk back issues for April 1999 and May 1999. There is a 2-part series titled, Turn Your VFP App Client/Server: A 12-Step Program.

4. I am not sure there is a book on this, maybe someone else can answer that. You can check the UT Partnership Program area [see link at the top of the frame above] for books by Hetzenwerke, though none are specific to client server.

5. You will be working mostly with remote views and a shared connection. Learn as much about using views as you can. Remember to design all your Oracle tables so they all have a surrogate [i.e., meaningless, and usually not seen, field to end-users] primary key which are usually numeric (integer type in VFP) because all your inserts, updates and deletes will have to have a primary key for the SQL to manage the correct rows in the Oracle tables.
