If you're asking if a VFP app can run on a box running Linux, the chances are, at least now, about nil - there's nothing available for Linux that provides enough of the Win32 environment to support even VFP 3 apps, which were the last ones that could run under Win32s.

If you're asking if a Linux box can act as a file server for users running VFP apps, it's no problem with the Samba redirector in place. From the little experimenting I've done with Linux in the file server role, it seems to be a good alternative.
