C is close to the "machine" but assembly lang is even closer
efficient code written in Assembly will be faster than C (but how many ppl
out there still know how to write efficiently in Assembly ?!? (g))

K&R is indeed the bible when it comes to C, but C++ warrents use of other
books IMHO
