I have developed a report with VFP5. Because spacing is real tight, I used Arial narrow 8pt. I developed this report while connected to an HPIII as my default printer. The report works fine, both in preview and actual printout. When Kurt, another developer, runs this report, his version fails to display dollar amounts correctly, both preview and hard copy. Kurt's version displays the dollar amounts as all asterisks, '******'. I know this is because there is not enough room to hold the dollar field. Kurt has an HP Laserjet 4000N as his default printer. When I reconfigure Kurt's machine to use the HPIII as the default printer, the report works fine on his machine also. Clearly, the problem is related to the printer configuration. I need to employ a report development strategy that avoids the problem of printer idiosyncrasies resulting in problems of this type. Can anyone assist me in solving this problem?
