Depends on what the purpose of going to Oracle is. If a high level of data security is a must, then Oracle will provide what VFP can not. Oracle is also widely used for web-based systems. However, VFP can be used to do the very same thing [see Rick Strahl, et al]. Otherwise, a VFP DB is certainly easier to develop for and is much more cost effective. Performance difference is negligible, IMHO.
