File Access is denied
Ok, I've searched through the archives and I've found others grappling with this problem, and I thought I'd found an answer, but I haven't...soo here's my prob:
I've got a program that works great on a single machine, using one copy of our data....however, in its end use, one database is going to be shared by about 15 employees. This really shouldn't be a problem, because the database will be read-only for all but 2 of them, since only 2 will be updating or changing any records. All the rest will only be browsing, searching, etc on the current records(65,000 to be approximate). Well I've checked the cursor setting in the main form, and all cursors have exclusive=.f. However, when one person has the program open and accessing the data, if a second person opens the program, the form doesn't get a chance to show and the error "file access is denied comes" up and once you hit cancel it closes the program. I'm using a opendata() routine that checks for a .mem file(on the local machine), if that file exists then it uses the datapath and checks to see if the database is in that path, if so it either opens the database, or uses locfile() to open an open dialog. What am I missing??? Thank you for any assistance you can grant little 'ol me.
