I've had the Refresh performance problem also in 6 (pages and grids, mostly). I was a little surprised to learn that in 6, some of the coded Refreshes I had in 5 seemed to be done automatically, and therefore were done twice (I think). Therefore, I removed some refreshes in 6 (by trial and error testing to see what really required refreshing), and picked up some speed, though still not as fast as the same app in vfp5...
