Yes, SCREEN = OFF is the preferred way to do that...here's one idea for vfp5 trop-level previews, now that I see you're having trouble...I don't use report previews, even though all my apps are top-levels. What I do is:
Pop up a modal form with a grid, and possibly totals, etc., that is close to what the report will generate. The grid displays what will be in the report in a cursor. There's a print button on this form. So the grid acts as the preview, but is better in some ways, in that the user can sort on any column, and the report will be printed with that order. We have dozens of these "grid/reports."
This method won't handle every type of report, I guess, but is quite popular with users here...
