Another thing you have to be careful of is the font and properties selected for the fields on the band. If you choose a font and/or properties to that font (bold, etc.) that doesn't quite measure out exactly to an even multiple, you'll get extra lines that way, too. I can't recall if it totally eliminates the extra lines in all situations and report lengths, but it seems to do a pretty credible job.
