your questions are not easy to answer. It has a
lot to do with the table structure, with the kind
of indexes, how data is updated (only online, or
online and batch at the same time), with the data
model, and so on. What is the expected increase of
data in your 1 million table ???

The are certainly other solutions who may give a
better environment (like a full blown database as
oracle or sql server).

A very good extension to the vfp database container
to handle problems with the dbf file format is STD
from www.stonefield.com, but it has to be integrated
by your vendor.

In FoxPro Advisor was an article about a fox database
of 120GB used for the EuroTunnel (railway tunnel beneath
the sea floor between UK and France).
