Francis, I have done this often by using an index on 2 fields (like your bcnudos and i), although only the first field is in the parent (master) table. I don't know what your difficulty is.

Have you checked in the debugger to be sure your table still has the correct index when the grid is active?

Are you sure the indexes exactly match? If you are using Upper() or allt() in an index that may be causing your problem.
