>We have more than a few PC's hooked up via Windows networking in our home/office. Not all the PC's are on all the time, and I've never had a problem with permanent drive-mapping to PC's that weren't turned on (Windows came up fine with no error messages). My PC was running Win95. I recently had to re-install Windows (virus crashed my C drive) and I figured I'd just go ahead and use Win98 (what the heck). Well, now I get error messages up the wazoo everytime I boot up my PC about not being able to connect to drives that are mapped to offline PC's and I have to reply to each message....a major PITA!!! And not only that, I also get the same messages whenever I use dial-up to get on the Net. There is obviously a setting somewhere that needs changing, but I've looked everywhere and can't find anything that seems to work.

Go into the Control Panel, then into Network. Click on "Client for Microsoft Networks" so it's highlighted, then on Properties. Under the Network logon options change it from "Logon and restore network connections" to "Quick logon". That should fix it.
