Randy,

>You guys should be used to these nay sayers by now. We don't control the media, although some think we do . So, opinions are always being passed around.

Unfortunately, Yes. But the overal feeling here on the UT is that it's due to that MS is not promoting VFP enough. If we look at the recent past (for e.g. Windows 95) we learn MS has pretty much control over the media. If there is one thing that MS does well, ..... it is marketing .....

>Do you really think some IT manager is going to make his/her decisions based on speculation by some anonymous source?

I sure do !!! I've had several project where i met some heavy resistance because i was using VFP (which was to be discontinuesd soon). Very often i have to tell people that VFP is not going to be discontinued and point them to the the document mr green has published on the VFP home. for Questions like "Why don't you use MS - Access ?", "Why don't you use VB" i've developed a standard answer......

Though I agree that things are a little better than for a few years ago, i too have the impression that the marketing around VFP is relatively poor. I also think MS doesn't promote VFP as much as it could or should because of VFP could conflict with the strategie which MS has in mind for SQL - server (Downsizing)

But more important, I don't think that all these issues matter as much that we as a VFP community must continue to deliver good quality applications to our clients. If we keep believing in VFP, it will never die.

>VFP and the VFP team are still going strong as you guys will all see at Devcon. And Calvin is getting really excited about showing everyone some cool new things.

Unfortunately, i 'll not be there [reason: distance], but i'm sure that devcon will give the VFP community some more confidence in the future of VFP.

Regards Walter,
