Why should the following string

"ÈÉÊÇçèéêàáâÀÁÙÚÛùúûÍÎìíîÒÓÔóô"

which is in a SQLServer table,

appear in my VFP remote view as

"++-¦tFTOaßG+-++¦··v-+8fe-++=("

Then SQLServer is updated with the bad data on a TABLEUPDATE.

I have no CODEPAGE= settings in my CONFIG.SYS

CPCURRENT() and CPCURRENT(1)
both return 1252
and CPCURRENT(2) returns 437

any hints will be welcome, thanks
