>Advocating correct answers is not taboo, at all. But, generally, when you see something erroneous, post the correct answer to the questioner without fanfare and be done with it. If the incorrect respondent is someone you feel will take it the right way, send him or her and email or a Private message saying "Sorry but.....". I guess what I am saying is that this site works because we all try to be genteel....

I have to disagree with you a little, here, John (Gonzo?). There's *a lot* of good natured kidding that takes place here right out in the open. As long as there are grins or whatever (which Dick has apologized for not knowing how to use up to now), ribbing someone for a mistake, even a typo, is fine. Especially if you've had exchanges with them before (which may not apply here) and you know they don't mind that sort of thing, can give as good as they get, etc.

I may be over-analyzing, but I think you're remembering a previous badly received post from Dick, and assuming he has a nasty personality which has to be looked out for. He meant the post which started this discussion as good-natured ribbing, as he's explained. I don't think he has to be chastised anymore.
