>Yep, been up to Helen several times. However, are you referring to Dalonega (sp?)? That's were you can pan for gold, etc. You might be able to in Helen, I've just never seen any signs that you can.
Nope, not Dahlonega .. I've been there lots of time too, but never did the gold-panning thing there. This place that I'm referring to is not in Helen, actually. It's between Cleveland and Clarkesville off of Route 115 (I think that's the Route#). I used to have a cabin right on the Chattahootchee River just over the White County/Habersham County border along this Route. The "gem-grubbing" place is a mile or two (or three) before you get to the river. Actually, my ex-husband still owns the cabin. Beautiful place, not the cabin, but the river! If he ever sells it, I'd love to buy it from him (actually, I shoulda gotten a piece of it in the divorce settlement, but that's a long story that I won't bore everyone with < g >). Great rafting, tubing, kayaking, fishing or just sitting out on a rock in the middle of the river getting a tan! I loved that place. Anyway, I'm reminiscing again ... oops, better stop < g >.
