You might consider buying Stonefield Database Toolkit. This is a set of tools that extend the DBC, and provide mechanisms to repair tables, recreate indexes, views, pack tables, and provide on-site updating of DBC data through a set of external metadatqa tables - the information about the DBC is stored in some metadata tables; if the structures/indexes/views change, you send out the updated metadata files, run a method of a class that can be incorporated into your app and distributed royalty-free, and the updated DBC information is propagated to the target system automagically without loss of data. I've used it for a while now, and it's paid for itself many, many times over. The latest version (5.1) works with both VFP 5 and VFP6, and can be used with free tables as well as DBCs.

Stonefield advertises here on UT, and offers a discount to PUTM members - the discount will pay for your premium membership here on UT, and that ignores the benefits of the Premium membership.
