>Anyone have any thoughts on how to go about creating a shortcut to an exe on the desktop from withing VFP5? Basically, I have a simple client files installation routine (creates a directory on the user's local drive and copies a set of network-based client files to the user's drive) and I'd like it to also create an icon on the desktop to the main client exe. I know I could use InstallShield or similar, but I'd like to keep this really simple. Any OCX's that do this?

Hi Arne,

There are at least two ways to do this. I've posted a DLL in the download section (LNKFILES.DLL in Win32 and Other APIs) that can do this. It comes with a help (in VFP syntax). Additionally, the Windows Scripting Host can do this as well. Perhaps my friend Ed Rauh, will jump in here with a more detailed decription as to how.
