just to add to what the others said...

M$ Mastering series CD, course 1298, Mastering Distributed App Design with VS states Access is ideal for a single user app with tables around the 10,000 reccount size, and should not be used for more apps with more than 10 users.

I used to fight the Access question a lot. Now that I have this good stat with reference, I never get the chance to use it :) Hopefully it's useful for you :)
