I think the song only applied toward recompiling in the same version of VFP.
For example if you took working VFP5 code and then simply recompiled in VFP6 prior to SP3, it would have been:

99 little bugs in the code,
99 bugs in the code,
fix one bug, compile it again,
202 little bugs in the code.
202 little bugs in the code,.... > (Repeat until BUGS = 0)
