For some years I've been successfully using the
[Windows]
device=Printer Definition....

entry in Win.ini to manage the selected printer in 2.6 (100 users, 20 different printers)
At run-time I'd save the device entry to a variable, rewrite it (using Foxtools and WriteProfileString etc)
run the report and then set device back.
All worked terrific!

Now I've got a wretched NT 4 workstation and it all starts to fall over. There is no [Windows] device=
in NT 4 and if I use GetProfileString a value *is* actually returned, however the syntax is no longer compatible with Win95 and Win98.
erk...

Does any one still do this stuff?
Does any one know a solution?

(Remember FPW 2.6 can't use the registry)
