If they're still using the Novell Real-mode drivers (NETX) then you have to update the maximum number of files in the Novell real-mode configuration file (either SHELL.CFG or NET.CFG may be in use, depending on how old the setup is and how saavy the installer was; the older Novell real mode drivers don't use the CONFIG.SYS entry.) You'll want to increase the value of the FILE HANDLES entry. The sum of the FILES= entry in CONFIG.SYS and the FILE HANDLES = entry in the Novell configuration file cannot exceed 254.

The SHELL.CFG or NET.CFG file is usually found in the same directory as the NETX executable.
