I got to meet Janis Joplin one night at the Cheetah (Aragon Ballroom) in Chicago. They (Big Brother and the Holding Company) were playing there and she and some of the band members were walking past me and I told her that the show was great. She asked me where everybody was. "Everybody" was at the University of Illinois - Chicago Circle campus seeing Hendrix. Of course, the next night everyone went to see Janis and it was packed to the rafters. I think that was '67.
