Changing a form mode

Hi,
I'm using the Mere Mortal framework.
When I first enter the CBizObjNoListForm it looks like the form is being put into add mode. That's fine so far, now I have a txtboxl that is keyed to the query filter. If the operator puts in a key that isn't in the table the form tells the operator that that record isn't there and sends them to a data enty page on the same form. Now here is the problem, the operator makes a mistake and now enters a key that is in the table. I's like to do a query (correct term?) and tell the operator that that key is already in the table without the Mere Mortal framework asking the operator if she/he would like to save first. The reson? Well if the operator made a mistake I'd like to tell him/her about it right when they make it and give them a chance to correct the error rather than go through the complete form and then telling him/her that there is a problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ed
