We should be able to use ADO effectively in a 2-tiered app as well. Just convert the recordsets to cursors and operate as usual. In SP3, support for Active-X controls has been improved, including the HFlexGRid, which binds to ADO recordsets. We might also be able to use other controls like ADO compatible list box. Then we wouldn't need to convert to cursors, just pass it through. However, in this case, VB sounds better than VFP as front end tool if you want to move to a 3-tiered framework.
For serious data crunching, like queries and reports it is probaly a good idea to convert to cursors to take advantage to the more powerful VFP DML.
There will be an article on the VFP web site soon that will explains how to combine the strengths of ADO and VFP curosrs, should be good.
The n-tiered framework is starting to make sense to me.
