>Also, when you talk about time to learn it; if we buy a framework, we intend to budget 3 intensive weeks where we concentrate on nothing but learning the framework. Will this get us high enough on the learning curve to be reasonably productive? We are both experienced VFP programmers, really experienced with OOP, and mildly familiar with codebook.

I would recomend that one of those three weeks you all attend a Mere Mortals training class. Best bet would be if it was the SECOND week... take the first week to go through the Quick Start Tutorial, trace through the code, look at the applicatoin object, forms manager, toolbar manager, etc... This will give you a good based for the MM training...

Then, the third week you can solidify what you have learned and start designing your application by createing some Use Case documents of the more simple use cases... Then do CRC session like you did in class, then model your design in Visual Modeler. From there implement the first use case, and test it...

This full Use Case to Testing cycle with a single use case will allow you to refine your understanding of the process. One trap that we always fell into was trying to design the data first, or thinking of the data. If you think of Attributes of the Object first... then it is a simple matter of building a table, or tables to store those attributes.

Good luck!
