Actually, I finally figured it out (as usually happens when I make big noise on something like this to the thread <bg>)
I have a separate little exe that loads my main exe and the proc was set in that little exe. Since I never recompiled it . well . you get the idea. It worked in dev mode because I don't use either exe there - just the raw prgs.
