SDT is a comprehensive tool that stores all the meta data for your database. This meta data can be used for recreating all your indexes, persistent relations, setting additonal DBC, table, view, and field properties, etc.

It also includes methods for packing [part of their reindexing process], repairing damaged tables, validating the DB. The nice part for development, is you can make changes to the development DB, tables and views. When you are satisfied with the changes, just copy the DBC files and the SDT meta files to the production location, and run the SDT validation method to make all the changes to the tables, etc. SDT will compare the structures of the existing tables to the SDT meta data and make any structure changes to sync SDT meta data with the DBC and the tables.
