>>Guys,

>>I am developing an application if The Mere Mortals Framework and need a database maintenance tool. I reccomended SDT to my boss, but he needs more persuasion. How is everyone using SDT? Are there any problems? How does it integrate with MMF?

>I can't speak to the MMF issue, but SDT has more than paid for itself in time saved in development and client support. It has solid replacements for PACK/REINDEX that work reliably and consistently. More importantly, it has the ability to validate and update DBCs on systems already deployed to the field; adding/altering views, indexes and tables are no problem, and rebuilding them is handled neatly as well. It makes deployment of new systems and migration of data to new folders a piece of cake. The latest version works with free tables as well as DBC contents, too.

>The use of the DBCX2 extensions makes custom modifications and extension of the DBC very easy as well, and it's an open standard.

>That is not to say that the product has been completely error-free, but Doug Hennig has done a great job of addressing issues and releasing updates to his user base in a timely and efficient fashion.
>
>I've used SDT in conjunction with the VMP framework, and the two work very well together; VMP provides hooks to link in SDT and replace VMP's native operations with SDT mechanisms.

Thanks Ed,
I'd forgotten about the VALIDATE DATABASE problems, this will be great.
