the best approach to start with is to read (at least) following two books: 1. "Internet Applications with Visual FoxPro 6.0", Author: Rick Strahl and 2. "Philip and Alex's Guide to Web Publishing", by Philip Greenspun
Also have a look at
www.west-wind.com, Rick has a great product for connecting Visual FoxPro to the net (not the only product, but in my opinion the best one), and some interesting white papers.
The database format can remain the same as now, when you mean the file format. Where you put your business rules depends on what your net application must perform, "ideal" solution is a three tier arhitecture, if already developed this way, then the amount of making the app net aware should not be very big.
If through database format you understand the data model, then a classical (ERM-modeled) database is best for operational systems and one modeled dimensional (Star-Schema) for a dispositive system.
