>Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I think [hope] you are on to something. The problem started when they installed a new HP printer in their office. The one that is not having the problem has her own computer and does not normally print to the network printer. I hope you are right because this has been the most frustrating problem!!! In fact, the first thing we tried was updating to the most current printer driver for the new printer [HP LJ 4000]. We'll try using an older printer driver like you suggest.

I've had problems with the driver for the 4000 before from HP - I think we switched them to the driver for the HP LaserJet 4 or HP LaserJet 4 Plus from the NT Server distribution CD; the driver change cleared things up nicely.

There are several models of the 4000, and I'm not sure which one you have, so I'm not sure which one will give you the closest match on features, but you should be able to prove it's the cause by simply changing the driver.

If in doubt, any of HP's current laser printers (and just about anything else that isn't specifically a PostScript printer) should work with the MS-distributed LaserJet Series II driver, but you give up a ton of features using it. The Series II driver has been stable for a very long time, so it's a good choice for testing things; in a way it's the laser printer equivalent of the Standard VGA video driver - very limited as far as features, but it works with everything, and if the problem doesn't go away when using that driver, the problem isn't with the driver!
