>>>Does anyone know of a third-party query builder that will work using ODBC and backend servers such as Oracle or MS SQL Server?
>>
>>Won't MS Query do the job. I am pretty sure it works with SQL Server... Check out the MS Web Site an search on MS Query... Oracle I am not sure? But, I have to believe there is a ODBC driver for that as well.
Any ODBC tool should do the job, as long as your Oracle drivers are OK. There are a ton of them.
>I didn't think MSQuery was a stand-alone product but one that came with products like Excel. I'm looking for something that can be called from within VFP and doesn't require the client to purchase an additional product.
A lot of times, your client may have office or soemthing anyway,so... MS Query is licensed much like MSPaint! (S) Of course, you get what you pay for....
If you are looking for a _progromatic_ query tool.... I have been meaning to write one (s) but you want something faster and better, I'm sure. Check out FoxFire, I think that can be called from within VFP (don't know, I've only heard about it). If you want something real basic, writing a quick tool that uses SQL Pass Through may not be that hard....
