Hi Nancy,
No, you are not nuts at all. For those that are not familar where Palm Springs is located geographically, it is a pain in the ass to get to. For convienence, you need to fly into LAX. Being a big airport, you are likely to find the times you need. After that, if you decide to rent a car and drive, figure on driving for 2 hours. You can take a puddle-jumper, but then you are ceding control to the airlines and are at thier mercy.
I just taught 2 separate classes in Moreno Valley, which is about 40 minutes from Palm Springs. Once again, a total pain in the ass to get to. Also, it is going to be HOT. 2 weeks ago, it was 99 degrees in Palm Springs. It is only going to get worse.
The good news is that there are other things to do. Anaheim is about an hour away (DisneyLand). Knotts Berry Farm is about 1.5 hours away. For history buffs, Yorba Linda is next to Anaheim. I visited the Richard Nixon Library last week. Very interesting.
While I am sure it will be nice, the location is clearly not the most convienent.

>2. A conference center/hotel that has an airport shuttle.
> a. common sense
> b. it's inefficient and environmentally unfriendly to have people rent cars, and, again, cost is a big issue with people.
