I think you would have a case if MS never came out and said that MSDE was optimized for 5 concurrent users. Fact is, MSDE is the embedded form of SQL-Server. Better yet, it is free, and can be freely distributed. If the number of users were say, optimized for 50, why would you buy SQL-Server? I think you can actually go as high as 10 users on MSDE. Remember the word concurrent. Once you finish fetching data or updating data, you should disconnect anyway. MSDE has some interesting uses and will be part of my SQL-Server sessions at Devcon.
