Does anyone use the CLOB datatype with Oracle and have it working as expected?

For loose text I can use the LONG datatype but only one LONG is allowed per table. Oracles Doc recommends the new CLOB datatype but I cannot seem to get it to work, either from Oracle's SQL Worksheet tool or from an ODBC connection.

I can CREATE TABLE with CLOBs. I can INSERT text into CLOBs but I cannot SELECT from a table with CLOBs.

Has anyone come up against this issue? Any ideas?
