The reason for looking a direct connection without odbc between vfp and sql server, is the speed and stability.

for example in some tests, some times updating 60 records from a view takes 5s and others takes 1:30 mn through views.

Anyone can replace odbc or odbc drivers. And with a system of 100 terminals, this is not a good idea.

and a direct connection is obviously faster. And vb has it through an ocx.

We use shared connections, and all we can to optimize. We tried all, for example we reinstalled from zero, windows95 and installed visualfox pro odbc, to see if this could be faster; we tried intersolv, etc.

Now we had decided to use developer 2000 and ORACLE WORKGROUP for big systems. we think they´re better.

But we still would like to know if there is and option, like in visual basic, to connect without odbc.
