Just a comment or two, may or may not be pertinent:

1) For some things that require "tight" editing, modal can be a better way to go.
2) If you need menu/toolbar, you can keep current form Alwaysontop until some criteria is met...
3) Pageframes can avoid some of the "inter-form" problems...
