I have a medical app running on a network which users can use to export patient names/addresses to standard letters in Word. At present, the system transfers data from the network to a 'type foxplus' table on each user's hard drive which then acts as the source data for the standard letters also on their hard drive.
The 'reason' for this is to avoid users over-writing each other's source data on the network drive if more than 1 user tries to export data at the same time.
The penalty for this is the time it takes to copy the foxplus file over the network to the user's hard drive.
Is there a better way of doing this, ie faster, which will enable more than 1 user at the same time to export data from the system into a source file for Word.
Any ideas gratefully received.
