I have a problem with a weighing scale that is hooked up through the serial port to a 486 SX PC running FPD26. It works fine as long as we keep the PC as a novell 3.11 station. We have a special server for this. The rest of the network runs novell 4.1. Under novell 4.1 the
FPD26 program cannot read the scale for very osbscure reasons.

We would like to get rid of the 3.11 server. Is there elementary, preferrably frewarish software that we could try to manage the comm port?

This is all we need really, no fax, telephone application... It seems unreasonnable to throw 300 usd (commtools or silverfox) at the problem without even being sure that we can solve it.

Any ideas?
