Hi Bruce,
Like Colin said, many had similar fears when we went to 1$ coin.
Virtually all of the fears (and a whole lot of them sounded plausible, as well as funny in many cases) turned out to be unwarranted. We are now quite used, for instance, to carrying $5 and $10 bills instead of lots of $1s and $2s (though you US folk *do* have a problem with paper $2 which we never had).
I also got quite a bonus after the change - I had always shoved my change into a jar on arriving home, and with $1s in there I found over $800 where I might have normally come up with $75 or so!
I'm betting that your new 1$ coin will work out fine.
Cheers,
Jim N
