Samuel: "too many files open" has several causes.

1. The FILES setting on your computer. For VFP, keep it up near 100.

2. The NETFILES setting on a Novell network (or similar setting on other network). There are 2 settings. The first is on the individual computer. For some networks, there is also a NETWORK setting. The name varies, depending on the network.

Sometimes when you install software it will re-write your CONFIG.SYS and change the files setting without your knowing about it. This may have happened to you.
