Hmmm... I don't deal much with Win9x machines. However, checking out the documentation for the COPY FILE command, it seems to want extensions on the files used. This is a guess, but you could try COPY FILE ... TO LPTx. with the period after the LPTx. This explicitly tells VFP the target file has no extension.
